Poets and Deities :)

I was really bowled by the amount of freedom and way of thinking and style of conveying by some of the poets in tamil literature. I was just going thru some book randomly in library and this is wat i got and just wanna share it with you.. it is quite interesting to know these kinda stuff.. atleast for me :)
one of the quotes from kaalamega pulavar about chidambaram natarajar commenting on one of his 'thiru veedhi ula'..

mecharamum poonda thillai naadhare - thevareer
pitchai eduthu unna purapattum utchidamam
kaalamaen kunjaramaen kaarkadal pole
muzhangum meLamaen raajangamey!

The lord was coming in "aandi" kolam. the poet naughtily comments on it saying, "anyways you are starting out to go and beg only, then whats the necessity for starting at an auspicious time and going with an ocean like parade of bands and crackers!"
well, i dono if i have translated in the right way but the way in which he did was being playful and nothing sarcastic at all. Anyways you will get it as soon as you read it, the flow of words were put in such a way that people do get that it was a playful comment and not sarcastic.

Another one by a poet, who comments perumal in 'garuda sevai'

PerumaaLum nalla perumaL avartham
thirunaaLum nalla thirunaaL - perumaaL
irundha idathil summa iramaiyinalandro
paruntheduthu parakuthaiyo paar!

He says, "Lord vishnu is not being in his place peacefully and quitely and see what happened now.. An eagle(carrier of lord vishnu) has kidnapped you!"
What awesome imagination, the usage of "tharkuripetru ani", that is, creating our point of view of something that has happened and magnifying the effect of what we see.

*Well i have experimented with this post as in, im not sure how i communicated and all. but jus wanna give it a shot. Would really appriciate your comments and feed forwards on this post more than any. thanks :)
